North Shore Choral Society: 1936 to the present
As described on the NSCS website,The North Shore Choral Society was born in Winnetka as a man’s chorus. Soon, however, its director, Lawrence Yingling, was persuaded to lead a mixed chorus, whose initial appearance was on December 18, 1932. But the first rehearsal of the musical organization called The North Shore Choral Society was held on March 3, 1936, under the direction of Madi Bacon.
Over the years, the performances of the NSCS were documented by different people using various formats. The lists of concerts, including dates, venues, conductors, accompaniment, and pieces performed, have been consolidated into one document and stored on the NSCS members Google Drive.
